Cheetah's PMP Process

With Cheetah’s Programs, you complete the the PMI Eligibility application during the first part of your selected PMP course – BEFORE you start the PMP Accelerated Exam Prep Part.

All Cheetah PMP programs are divided into two parts. The first part is getting your ready for the Accelerated Exam Prep part. This first part qualifies for the 35 hours of PM Education. You must schedule your actual PMP exam BEFORE you start the second part of your Cheetah Program.

You schedule your PMP exam at the end of the first part of Cheetah’s PMP programs, BEFORE you start the 2nd Accelerated Exam Prep part of the program. You schedule your actual PMP exam for the day after you complete the 2nd part of your Cheetah PMP Program.

Taking the PMP exam is like climbing a mountain. In any expedition, you have a first part where you plan for doing the expedition and the second part is where you go on the expedition. Cheetah’s program is the same way. We make sure you are going to make it across the finish line of passing the PMP exam in the 2nd part of the program.

Yes the first part of Cheetah’s PMP program has explicit guidance on completing the PMI PMP Eligibility application you must follow to increase your chances of PMI accepting your application.

No, it does not include the cost of PMI’s PMP® Certification Exam. PMI and Cheetah Learning are separate organizations. Cheetah Learning provides the course, but PMI provides the PMP® certification test. PMI requires the exam application to be completed by the individual requesting to the take the PMP certification exam. The cost PMI charges for the PMP exam is $675 for non-members and $425 for members. It costs $150 +/- $20 for PMI Membership – there are variations with local PMI chapter fees.

When you register for a Cheetah PMP program, you get a 25 year proven accelerated approach to pass the PMP Exam – quickly and easily.

There are two parts for Cheetah’s Exam Preo Programs.

  1. The first part helps you file your PMI  Eligibility application and makes sure you are ready for the second part – which can be intense for many people.
  2. The second part you follow a two decades proven accelerated exam prep system to make sure you can pass either the PMP or PMI-ACP exam the day after your cheetah course ends.

Course Material (all course material is updated quarterly to insure you are prepping for the most current version of the PMP Exam)

  1. The first part – all the course material is online – course activity book in PDF, spreadsheet templates, project plans, required readings, exams  Some people like to print this material out, others are good keeping it all electronic.
  2. The second part –  PMP Sprint 2 – all the materials are also online – PDF files, Templates, Video lessons, Audio Files, Exams, assignment and exam tracking.  You’re guided how to set up your study materials in the first part so you are ready.  For students in the US, they receive the physical course kit (it’s the same course kit the virtual live students receive).
  3. The second part for the PMP Virtual Live- we ship a course kit to students a week before the 2nd part starts.  We’re moving very fast during the four days and this makes sure we’re literally all on the same page.  We do use a Zoom classroom, and the exams are all online.
  4. The second part of the PMI-ACP – all the materials are online – PDF files, Templates, Video lessons, Audio Files, Exams, assignment and exam tracking.  You’re guided how to set up your study materials in the first part so you are ready.

We take our role seriously to help you cross the PMP or PMI-ACP finish line Cheetah FAST and do not grant extensions as these do not help you earn your credential.  We hold you capable of being able to keep up. People come to Cheetah to quickly and easily become certified – they often choose us specifically for the “tough love” approach.  We do not diminish from this role as our firm but kind commitment increases your odds of achieving the very difficult goal of passing their exam.

Cheetah has two PMP programs – each with two parts.

1. They both have a similar first part – called the Headstart program for the 4 day virtual live. For the Cheetah PMP Sprint – it is called Sprint 1.

The first part takes 35 hours and most students complete it within two weeks.  In the first part, you

  1. Complete and submit your PMI PMP Eligibility application
  2. Schedule your PMP exam for the day after the second part of your PMP course ends (after your eligibility application is approved).
  3. Do several other readiness activities to increase your chances of succeeding with Accelerated Exam Prep.
  4. Become familiar with the PMI way and  how it relates to your unique PM experiences.
  5. Satisfy PMI’s 35 hour Basic PM Education (even if you already have the 35 hour requirement met, you still must do this first part in it’s entirety to ensure you are ready for the 2nd part of the program – Accelerated Exam Prep).

2.The second part depends which program:

  1. The Cheetah Exam Prep virtual live program is 4 days from 8 am to 6 pm central US time zone.
  2. The Cheetah PMP Sprint, 2nd sprint is two weeks that takes most people 40 – 50 hours to complete.  This is a structured immersion program you do independently.  You will determine when you will fit in the daily activities in Sprint 1.

3,  The PMI-ACP is set up similarly with a pre-course that is 35 hours and the follow on accelerated exam prep part that is 3 weeks.

First part – pre-course:

  1. Complete and submit your PMI-ACP Eligibility application
  2. Schedule your PMI-ACP exam for the day after the second part of your PMI-ACP course ends (after your eligibility application is approved).
  3. Do several other readiness activities to increase your chances of succeeding with Accelerated Exam Prep.
  4. Become familiar with the PMI way and  how it relates to your unique Agile PM experiences.
  5. Satisfy PMI’s 35 hour Basic Agile PM Education (even if you already have the 35 hour requirement met, you still must do this first part in it’s entirety to ensure you are ready for the 2nd part of the program)

As shared by the hundreds of Trust Pilot reviews about the Cheetah Exam Prep with the PMP program, the number one qualification people require to succeed with Cheetah’s approach and pass the PMP exam the day after their cheetah class is an ability to FOLLOW THE PROGRAM. What does this entail:

  1. Assessing if this program is right for you by reviewing the FAQs and looking at the Trust Pilot reviews of other students’ experiences. This program takes committed effort in a short structured immersive approach. We have demonstrated over 20 + years this is the shortest and most sure way of becoming PMP certified. Students who succeed are able to decide if it’s right for them to make this type of commitment BEFORE they register and then follow through after they register.
  2. Reading emails sent to you about your registration – when they get sent and not waiting until the day before your course starts to read them. If there is no email, students who are able to pass the PMP exam the day after the program, realize it might be in their SPAM folder. They then white list the emails coming from Cheetah Learning. If they still don’t see the email, they give us a call. Being a Project Management Professional requires problem solving abilities.
  3. Taking action in alignment with your goal of passing the PMP exam – which requires reading emails, answering phone calls or text messages from your Cheetah PMP Coach, and following the instructions in your course material.
  4. Being all in on earning the PMP credential after your name. Those who are, access the course material as instructed and find it easy to follow the simple instructions required of the program.

Many people report that Cheetah’s approach is the easiest, hardest thing they have ever done.

However we are not magicians. If we could wave a magic wand so that you could pass the PMP exam without doing any work, we’d be charging a 100x more for this program. For those that expect the magic wand approach to passing the PMP exam, can’t (or won’t) read emails or follow instructions, this is not the right course for you.

1. A fundamental requirement to succeed with Cheetah’s PMP approach is the ability to FOLLOW THE PROGRAM.

An indicator of a prospective student’s ability to follow the program is with heading basic instructions. This requires reading emails in a timely manner and taking actions consistent with the directions provided. People who ask the same question repeatedly (likely already addressed in the FAQ) yet never respond to any emails answering these questions, and make no efforts to remediate this behavior, will not be allowed to register for the course as it shows an inability to follow basic instructions We’ve learned over the past 25 years, this type of person is rarely successful with our approach and significantly impacts the performance of the other students.

    2. Be willing to take the actual PMP course the day after your Cheetah course ends

AFTER YOU REGISTER, to get ready for your Cheetah PMP course, you do a pre-course or Sprint 1. As part of your readiness, you are directed how to most effectively complete the PMI PMP eligibility application. You must schedule your actual PMP exam the day after your Cheetah course ends in order to take the second part of your Cheetah course (the second part gets you ready to pass the PMP exam). To take the PMP exam, you must submit a qualified PMP eligibility application to PMI – see the information below. Cheetah’s Pre-Course and Sprint 1 meet the required 35 hours of PM education

PMI defines “leading and directing” projects as being actively responsible for managing and overseeing various aspects of project execution. It does not require a formal job title of “Project Manager” but requires candidates to demonstrate that they have taken responsibility for key project tasks.

Key Aspects of Leading a Project According to PMI:

    1. Initiating – Defining the project, setting goals, securing approvals, and identifying key stakeholders.
    2. Planning – Developing a project plan, setting timelines, estimating budgets, and identifying risks.
    3. Executing – Coordinating team efforts, managing communications, and ensuring work is progressing as planned.
    4. Monitoring & Controlling – Tracking project performance, managing changes, and addressing issues.
    5. Closing – Finalizing deliverables, getting stakeholder acceptance, and completing project documentation.

What PMI Looks for in Your Experience Submission:

    • You must have led tasks, teams, or project phases, even if you weren’t the official “Project Manager.”
    • Your role should have involved decision-making authority, guiding project work, and ensuring successful delivery.
    • The experience must be non-overlapping (e.g., two projects done at the same time only count for the actual months worked, not double).

Examples of Acceptable “Leading and Directing” Experience:

You were responsible for a key project component (e.g., scheduling, budgeting, or risk management).
You coordinated efforts among different stakeholders.
You managed project risks, scope changes, or resources.
You ensured deliverables met stakeholder requirements.
You facilitated project meetings, managed communication, and tracked progress.

Preparing for the PMP exam in four days is like climbing a mountain. Like any good mountain climbing adventure, you must be prepared for the ascent. This is the purpose for the pre-course (we call it the “Headstart”). You do a 35 hour pre-course to get ready for your four day program. Universally the people who show up to class prepared, pass the PMP exam at the end of the week. Here is an info -graphic of the timing of the 4 day virtual live PMP course.

    Follow On Help

For the Cheetah PMP virtual live or Cheetah PMP Sprint Online:

    1. If you do not pass the exam, your coach will provide you with a momentum program to shore up weak areas and prepare you for your exam retake.
    2. If you are still not success after fully participating in the Momentum program (seeing passing guarantee), including taking the PMP exam three times after attending class, we refund the entire course fee paid to the party who paid us. Keep in mind you must test within 7 days of completing the class and retest within 30 days of previous test and fully participate in all elements of the program.
    3. If you prefer, in lieu of the full refund mentioned above, after an unsuccessful second exam attempt, (1st retake) you may instead prefer to retake the class at no cost.

When you register you provide an email and a password – this creates your class account. You go to www.cheetahlearning.com and click on login on the upper right side of the screen. When you do so, you will get the login screen to put in the credentials you created at registration. This brings up your “My Cheetah” dashboard which has a link to your course.

You can login via your phone (but we do not recommend this) – the login link is under the class drop down on three short lines at the top of the home page. When you participate in a Cheetah Learning course, the activities require you to be seated at a desk. There is a very strong connection between your hand and your brain which makes it imperative you are hand writing your activities. Additionally, since many of Cheetah’s courses are preparing people for exams given in a formal exam setting, the cheetah exam system replicates this. You must do these exams on your desktop (or laptop) computer as well. Most people have many distracting elements on their phone (calls, texts, alerts, etc) and it’s best to remove distractions while doing your course activities.

Guide to Deducting Cheetah Learning Training Costs on Taxes

Below are the primary ways you can claim your Cheetah Learning training on your US Taxes

    1. Self-Employed Individuals (Business Expense Deduction)

If you are self-employed, a freelancer, or an independent contractor, you can deduct the cost of Cheetah LEarning training as a business expense on Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business). This applies if:

    • The course maintains or improves skills required for your profession.
    • The course is not required to enter a new trade or profession.

    How to claim:

    • Report the expense under “Education” or “Training” on Schedule C.
    • Keep records of receipts, invoices, and proof of payment.

    2. Employer Reimbursement or Deduction for Employees

    • If your employer reimburses your Cheetah Learning training, up to $5,250 per year can be tax-free under an educational assistance program.
    • If your employer requires certifications for your job and you paid out-of-pocket, you may be able to deduct the cost as a work-related expense if itemized deductions apply. (Note: Since the 2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, most employees cannot deduct unreimbursed work expenses.)

    How to claim:

    • If reimbursed, no tax reporting is necessary.
    • If paid out-of-pocket, ask a tax professional if you qualify under employer-required education rules.

    3. Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC)

    • The Lifetime Learning Credit provides a credit of 20% of up to $10,000 in eligible education expenses (max credit: $2,000 per tax return).
    • The training must be from an “eligible educational institution”—many private training providers do not qualify.

    How to claim:

    • If your training provider does not issue a 1098-T, you will need to provide receipts, invoices, and proof of payment.
    • Confirm eligibility with a tax professional.

    4. Business Owners Deducting Employee Training

If you are a business owner paying for Cheetah Learning training for your employees, you can deduct the cost as an employee training expense under:

    • Schedule C (sole proprietorships)
    • Business tax returns (corporations, LLCs, partnerships)

    How to claim:

    • Report as a professional development or employee training expense on business tax filings.
    • Keep proper records of payments and training receipts.

    Key Documentation to Keep

Regardless of which method you use, keep the following records:

    • Invoice or receipt from the training provider
    • Proof of payment (credit card statement, bank transfer, check)
    • Course description and proof of completion (if applicable)

Since tax laws can change, we strongly recommend consulting a tax professional to determine your eligibility for deductions or credits.

It is a fast track into higher level leadership positions and is a requirement in many organizations to get hired and/or promoted as a project manager.

You spend 4 days from 8 AM to 6 PM Central Standard time in the virtual classroom and take the actual PMP exam the day after your class ends. Students must do 35 hours of pre-work before starting the class. Most students register from 3 months to 4 weeks in advance of the course to get ready for the program.

The Cheetah PMP Sprint Online uses the exact same material and process as the PMP Virtual Live program and uses a well proven 4 week structured immersion process. Students spend 20 – 24 hours per week in two, 2 week sprints and take (and pass) the PMP exam after their second sprint. There is no pre-work required.

      9. Requirement to start the 4 day, Sprint 2 or the PMI-ACP 3 week online portion – IMPORTANT If you fail to complete the Headstart Online course within a week before your class starts, or at the end of Sprint 1,  you will not be allowed to attend class and you will be charged the $1,500 fee to change to a later class. If you choose not to attend a later class, you forfeit your registration fee.

    PMI PMP Eligibility

    PMI PMP Eligibility Requirements

    1. PM Experience is Leadership on Professional Projects -Experience must be Leading and Directing Projects that are professional in nature. PMI will not accept personal projects, projects where you were on the project team, or processes you did repeatedly.
    2. PM Experience Meets the Definition of a Project – A Project is a unique one time effort with a definite beginning and ending.  If you did the same process repeatedly – such as managing payroll on the project, it will not count as project leadership experience.
    3. PM Experience Must be within the Past 8 years – You can refer back 8 years and your project leadership experience does not  have to be consecutive.
    4. Basic PM Education – Must have 35 hours of Basic Project Management Education (you earn this 35 hours in part 1 of any of the three Cheetah PMP Programs.
    5. Amount of PM Experience Required (non-overlapping):
      1. Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree, or the global equivalent) – Minimum of 60 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience.
      2. Four year degree (BS or BA) or its Global Equivalent – Minimum of 36 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience.
      3. GAC accredited program (Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s or Global Equivalent) – Minimum of 24 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience.

PMI is very particular on how they want you to describe your project management experience.

Cheetah students follow a rigorous process with completing their PMI PMP Eligibility application to make sure they will qualify to take the PMP exam.

Cheetah students complete their application in the first part of the program (PMP Headstart or Cheetah Sprint 1) – BEFORE taking the second part of the Cheetah Program . You must schedule your actual PMP exam for the day after your Cheetah class ends and you must do this AFTER PMI approves your PMP Eligibility application.

We do not leave anything to chance – you cannot take the actual PMP exam without first having PMI approve your PMP Eligibility Application.

Over 50% of students who take other PMP exam prep programs do not feel confident in completing the PMP Eligibility Application so they don’t take the PMP Exam.  We hear this repeatedly when they then register for one of Cheetah’s programs because they need the PMP for their career advancement.

Cheetah’s program is a program to PASS THE PMP EXAM.  To do so, you MUST have your PMI PMP Eligibility application approved so you can take the actual PMP exam the day after your Cheetah Class Ends.  WE HELP YOU DO THIS IN PART 1 OF YOUR CHEETAH PROGRAM.

Yes the first part of Cheetah’s PMP program has explicit guidance on completing the PMI PMP Eligibility application you must follow to increase your chances of PMI accepting your application.

It takes 10 to 14 days from when PMI receives your exam application. You can apply on PMI’s website. You can apply by mail, but the turnaround time is much faster if you apply online. We see it happen much quicker than this but PMI gives themselves a buffer.

For all Cheetah PMP courses you have the option to have a Cheetah PMP Coach go over your application and advise you on the best way to position your experience. If you follow their advice, they will work with you on your application until you get it accepted.

Yes – please reach out to our “Ask a Cheetah Coach” and we can discuss your PM experience.

      PMP Passing Incentive

The Cheetah PMP Sprint program is set up to be done independently. To incentivize students to follow the program- which will result in them passing the PMP exam – we refund the membership rate for the PMP Exam ($425) when they pass within four days of completing the 2nd PMP sprint.

      PMP Practice Questions

Cheetah students master a strategy to logically deduce the correct answer on typical PMP questions. Too much self practice prior to mastering these strategies forces them to have to unlearn ineffective approaches. This impacts their ability to pass the PMP exam. Students more easily pass the PMP exam when they follow Cheetah’s instructions to limit doing PMP practice questions prior to starting their Cheetah Exam Prep course.

Yes you should be. The PMP exam is very difficult and most people, even those who have been project managers for decades, do not do well on sample PMP Exams. The PMP exam is created from Project Management practices across hundreds of industries and there is no way anyone knows how project management happens across all industries. In the Cheetah program you develop the meta framework of the “PMI way” so that you can integrate your unique experiences with PMI’s globally agreed upon standard for doing project management. Without this specific “meta cognition” training that Cheetah Learning does, it is very difficult for most people to get a passing grade on the PMP exam.

      Registration and Payment Options

      1. You select the program that best meets your needs. (if you want guidance on this please schedule a Personalized PMP Success Plan Meeting)
      2. On the front page of the website we list all the PMP courses in calendar order.  Pick the course that best meets your schedule:

        2. Cheetah PMP Online – this course starts the beginning of every month.  Most people register a month before their course starts to have time to do the PMP Headstart class.
        3. Cheetah PMP Sprint – this course starts the first Saturday of every month. Most people register from a week to a month before their course starts.  This course has two, two week sprints.  The first sprint covers the same material as the headstart program.  There is no pre-work before the first sprint.
      3. Completed Registration – You are enrolled in your course when we receive full payment. You can pay for your registration by credit card or choose to use Affirm to make payments. You can choose to pay by check, but we must receive payment prior to finalizing registration and granting course access. The student is responsible for working with their internal payment processing – you receive an invoice when you register you can use to get your organization to cover the cost of the course. We do accept EFT, ACH, or wires for payment and will provide that information when requested.
      4.  Email Notifications – you will receive invoices, receipts, class instructions from support@cheetahlearning.com.  Please whitelist that email address or check your spam folder if you do not receive the emails within a minute or two of registering.  If they are not in your spam folder, please call us 844-800-4767 so we can look into it pronto.

      Technology Requirements

Accelerated Learning techniques are full body experiences and the course material is best accessed on a laptop or desktop computer (best if using a chrome browser).  Using the phone or tablet can create too many distractions that significantly impede the accelerated learning process.
